Ask Scout

Ask about your deal. Get an answer from your documents.

A second read on the work you have already done. Grounded in your own pipeline, cited to the page it came from, and honest about what it cannot tell you.

Why is Financial quality only 3.6 out of 10?

Ask Scout

The add-backs are doing most of the work: $120K of owner salary was added back, but the role has to be replaced.

01What it's grounded in

Your deals. Nothing else.

Most AI assistants answer from what they were trained on. This one answers from what you uploaded. When it hasn't got the data, it says so instead of filling the gap.

  • It reads your deals, not the internet.

Every answer comes from your own pipeline: the figures the diligence engine reconciled, the discrepancies it flagged, the documents you uploaded.

  • It cites where a number came from.

A figure arrives with the document and location it came from. You can go and check it rather than take it on faith.

  • It reads the documents themselves.

How customers are won. What the lease says. What the owner actually does all day. A spreadsheet never captures those, so it goes into the CIM and answers from the page.

  • It knows which numbers are verified and which aren't.

A deal in your pipeline has reconciled figures. A listing in the feed has whatever the seller typed. It will not hand you the second while implying the first.

02What people ask it

The questions you'd put to an analyst.

  • Why is Financial quality only 3.6 out of 10 on Cedar Lane?
  • Which of my deals has the widest gap between stated and verified SDE?
  • What does the offering memo say about how they win customers?
  • What's SDE, and why isn't it the same as profit?

It stays on your deals and on the vocabulary of buying a business. Ask it something genuinely unrelated and it will say so, then steer back.

03What it won't do

The limits are the point.

An assistant that will answer anything is an assistant you can't trust on the thing that matters. These are constraints it operates under, not gaps we intend to close.

  • It can't change anything.

Read-only, by design. It will tell you where in the app to make a change. It will never make one for you.

  • It says when it doesn't know.

If the data isn't there, the answer is that the data isn't there — not a plausible number that fills the gap.

  • It isn't the report.

The Diligence Analysis is what verifies the earnings. Ask Scout helps you interrogate that work; it doesn't replace it.

  • It isn't your accountant or your lawyer.

It explains what a figure is and where it came from. Deciding what to do about it is still yours, with your own professionals.
